All Star Game {Husbands POV}

For those of you who aren't "sporty people", the All Star Game was last night and my wonderful husband watched the game while I was at a sorority meeting. You'll get my side later, but here's a guy's version of the game.....

The MLB All-Star game was last night. What a game...well at least for the National League. I will get into that a little more soon. The All-Star game was held in Kansas City, MO at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. It was the first time the All-Star game has been held in KC since 1973.

The festivities started with Phillip Phillips singing a song before the game (not the Star Spangled Banner) and don't know the name. I'm sure if you ask wifey she'll know. :) This might have been the time that I decided that I couldn't watch a game on an empty stomach and got some chips and salsa.

After that the reserves for both teams were announced. It was really cool to hear the crowd cheer and boo for the players they liked or disliked. Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees is not a favorite player of Royals fans, but Billy Butler (plays for the Royals) had the biggest standing ovation of the night for the introduction and when he came to the plate.

Then the starters were introduced, Luke Bryan came out and sang the Star Spangled Banner. It was well done and not drug out. I liked it a lot.

For the start of the game, Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers faced off against Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants. Verlander, had his worst start of the season and it came at the All-Star game. The Giants players in the first inning really set the tone for the National League. Melky Cabrera had the first hit of 2012 MLB All-Star game and Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers (my favorite team) got him in with a double. This gave the NL a 1-0 lead and that is all they would need for the night. So you can say that Braun had the game winning hit in the first inning. The Giants players did set the tone in the first and the biggest hit in the first came from Pablo Sandoval of...guess who...the Giants. At the end of the first it was 5-0 NL.

The NL would pound out another 3 runs in the 4th inning and it would be our final score at the end of the game of 8-0. Over all it was a great game with veterans of the midsummer classic playing along with 13 new comers to the All-Star game.

The biggest names in the All-Star game this year were Derek Jeter of the Yankees, who made his 13th All-Star game. Chipper Jones of the Braves, who made his 8th All-Star game and his final one this year (he is retiring at the end of the season).

Big names of the newcomers were Bryce Harper of the Nationals, Mike Trout of the Angels and Mark Trumbo of the Angels. ASG History was made this year as Harper was the youngest All-Star in MLB history at only 19 years old.

It was an awesome night and I couldn't take my eyes off of the TV. I didn't even get up to get a beer or go to the bathroom unless it was in between innings. Some call that dedication and while wifey calls it stupidity. I would call it dedication. Hope she doesn't get mad at me for saying that, because I think if it was reverse, she would do the same thing.

I hope that you liked this little change and the point of view from the hubby of her blog.
